Its true when they say you should take every day as a special day. Oscar stared out the window of his apartment and wondered how he got this way. He wanted to tell well yell to everyone that he did the best that he thought he could. In the end he knew that he would leave his son with a huge amount of debt. He tried to work and get the $310,000 debt down a little but it was so hard. It just seemed as thought it was not a possibility. Now he faced the truth.

Adam and Adrienne managed to come home from college to hang out with the family. It was a blessing for them to be able to spend time together. Their mom was more and more at the hospital ever since she was named Chief of staff. Maura had come by to make sure that Oscar had plenty to eat and to also talk to her mother-in-law. Lately Oscar noticed that whenever Maura came for dinner she did not do so with her kids or his daughter Consuelo. He wondered and hoped that everything was OK with them.

It almost seemed as thought Maria-Celeste was meant to come home at that time. She came home said hello to everone when all of a sudden Oscar let out a yell. Everyone rushed to see what it was and to their dismay it was time for Oscar to leave this sim world. Oscar tried to rush and say something before the reaper took him away,
"I love all of you. Tell Simon that im sorry. I love you Maria-Celeste...I truly do"
And in a matter of a second he was gone. He left behind a large family to grieve. She didnt know how it happened but Maria-Celeste fainted.
*****
the next few days were hard for the Barillas family. Their Patriarch was now gone. The new leader of the family was Simon and he was in too much grief to even try to assume any responsibility. Maria-Celeste looked at herself in the mirror and wondered if she had been dreaming of all this. How could she go on without her husband and best friend? The kids were all now in the apartment begging her to look toward the future. "What future?" She asked herself. But in all her grief she managed to get it together for her kids.

"Simon?"
"Mom... I dont know what to say Mom."
"I know. Can you get your sisters to come over and tell them the news? I just want everyone here so we can get the will read and get our affairs in order OK son."
"I will mom and mom...I love you. See you soon."
Maria-Celeste hung up and looked around her apartment. She always thought that she would be the first to go...and now it turned out to be Oscar would leave her to grieve.

Their roomate was so saddened by the whole fact. True she had only a few months knowing Oscar but he was such a good roomate.
"Im so sorry for your loss. I dont know how to react. I thought that for sure he would have lived longer than he did."

"I know..I know. It just happens to all of us. Its unavoidable. Listen we need to talk about the living situation. Now that Oscar is gone I dont think that I can afford this apartment even with you as a roomate. I know that this is not a good time..but my son Simon has offered me to move in with him and I have accepted."
"Oh, its OK. I just want you to be happy. Never mind me. I can move anywhere..Under these circumstances I understand. Thanks for letting me stay here while everything is gettting settled."

******

Maria-Celeste tried to get back in gear and work to try to do everything she could an help Simon with the debt. She looked over and could swear she cuold see her husband working across the room. She shook her head and he disappeared. Suddenly she remembered that Simon was coming over to finalize the moving plans.

"So Justin you are geared up to leave for college early? I mean if you dont want to then you too can move in with me."
"Thanks Simon, but im ready to get started with school. I just want to finish and make mom proud."
"OK then I have made arrangements for you and well mom I am ready for you to move on in."
"hmmm? Oh sorry. Im ready whenever you are. Justin if you dont want to leave you dont have to. Its your choice son."

As discussed Maria-Celeste packed up the house and walked Justin to the waiting cab. She shed a tear as she realized that this was the last child she would send away to college. She turned around and got the movers to pack everything up. She took one more look around and then she closed the door.

"We have had a wonderful life. I don't want you to get out there and act all wierd on me! Were fine and were happy. What more do you want? Dont mention our debt. Come on Honey..lets live a little."

Maria-Celeste and Oscar are now Seniors. They live a pretty good life putting their debt aside. It was hard for Oscar to imagine leaving all this debt to his son...but as his lovely wife said they needed to relax!
Our other roomate left so the Barillas family was forced to rent to another person. She is a science teacher and seems to get along with everyone. For some reason Justin seems to hang around her constantly. Maria-Celeste started to worry that maybe Justin was developing a crush.

It was time to bid farewell to her twins: Adam and Adrienne. Soon Maria Celeste would have an empty nest. It was hard to spend time with Justin now that the twins were gone. All in all She hoped to find the strength to keep Justin occupied and off of the roomate.
"Hey whats wrong?"
"Nothing mari, im just missing the kids. I mean remember when we thought that we could have no peace and quiet? Now everything is too quiet. its just wierd being here with only one child in the house."

Oscar Barillas
Season: Winter Loan Debt: 243,600
Household members: Oscar Job: Family Law Attorney, Wife: Maria-Celeste Job: SpecialistChildren: Amarilis, Consuelo, Oscar Simon II (adults living outside the house.), Brianna, Ian and Marcos (Away at college)Adam and Adrienne (twins at teen stage).

The sad part about being an adult is that you have bills to pay. My wife and I have decided to that the only way to tackle our amounting debt is to sell the house. We tried to get as much out of the house as possible but the market was just not there. We sold it for a little over $50,000 but that didnt even pay off much of our debt. Having children is taking a lot of financial responsibility on ourselves. Even though Maria-Celeste and I have been working hard it just is not enough. We thought the kids would be saddened by our move. Thankfully the twins, Adam and Adrienne turned to teens and did not have to change high schools only grammar school.

"Ok so you guys know how we are financially and why we have moved here right? The next issue is that we are finding a roomate to rent a space here. "
"Are you sure mom? I dont think that we need a roomate do we? eww can you imagine Adam? Him or her just staring at us every day? Eating with us?"
"Adrienne. We have not found one yet. therefore lets try to hold off judgement until we can get to meet the person. I dont even know if they will work the same time we do or not. If they want to eat with us then fine they will. Don't worry too much about it. We are trying to keep your lives as normal as possible."

Even with all these new changes she had to get a hold of her biggest change in all. the birth of her new son Justin. Everything was happening so soon but it needed to happen for them to be able to get rid of some debt. Being a legacy family whatever debt was not paid off would go to the heir.
"Oh Justin you are such a good little boy. I cant wait until you can walk and talk with your many brothers and sisters." After her delivery Maria-Celeste took care of the possiblity of having another child. She was still in shock that Justin was a single birth.

The Barillas family did finally find a roomate. Adam acutally like the old guy. His name is Jordan and he is an accoutant. Much to the relief of his sister Adrienne, Jordan worked days and they hardly ever saw him.

Brianna having graduated college came by to visit only to find that Adrienne stayed behind while the family went walking to the park. Brianna talked with Adrienne but they both noticed that they no longer had much in common. In Adrienne's case she still remember how Brianna left and never really kept in touch with her. As for Brianna well she was just getting through losing a baby and she managed to isolate herself.

Maria-Celeste walked into the apartment and got the apartment ready for the celebration dinner. Justin was now a toddler and he was getting ready to walk, talk and tear everything in sight!

The latest addition to the Barillas family Adam and Adrienne turned to children in this round. Everyone was a little shocked to see that Adrienne had blonde hair. Could this be a genetic random trait? Either way Oscar loved his new children and their interesting differences.

Ian took the time to hang out with his future brother-in-law. Both of them were still shocked that Brianna was pregnant.
"Are you nervous about tomorrow? I mean how in the world did marriage come about?"asked Ian.
"It just did. I mean I know that I want to be with Brianna. I love her but are we actually ready for this? I just think that it will be the best thing for our child and us at this point. How about you?"
"Well Neil I am just taking it one step at the time. I just want to make sure this whole thing blows over before I can even tell my parents about my girl. Dont worry you will meet her soon."

Ian managed to catch Debbie King right before she headed to the back yard for the wedding.

"I know this is probably not the way that you would like to meet my family but for now its the best way."

Debbie still could not believe that she was finally meeting Ian's family. After all they had been dating for quite a while. Every time that she asked about his family he would just clam up and not say anything. Finally she had enough and asked it their age difference was what kept him from not taking her to his house. He denied that and decided to introduce her at Brianna's wedding.
"I just want to forewarn you that there are a lot of people here and I dont want you to get scared. I do have a big family OK." warned Ian.
"I know you told me that. Ian Dont be nervous I am sure everything will be alright. I love you and you love me. Now lets get back there."

Brianna held her finacee's hand and didnt know how in the world she got here so fast. It just seemed like yesterday she had met Neil. Neil looked at Brianna and hoped that he was doing the right thing. He didnt have anything to offer her but his love and devotion. He was nervous but didnt want to show it.
"Are you OK Bri?"
"Ya, Im just a little nervous. I didnt think that it would happen so fast you know. But here we are. "
They recited their vows and before they knew it they were a married couple. Oscar and Maria-Celeste looked at their daughter and wondered what the future held for them. It was going to be tough being married as teens but their son Simon managed fine. They hoped for the best and let the party begin.

As the months passed by everyone in the family got used to the newlyweds living at home. Ian himself was getting promoted in his job and was rethinking the whole college thing. Sure he wanted to have a degree but at the same time he wanted to begin his own business. He was doubting on whether or not to tell his parents. Ian was thinking on how to tell his parents when Debbie called.

"Your sure? I mean there is no mistake? No Debbie I believe you but I mean my parents are barely getting through this with Brianna. No I dont want you to have an abortion..I mean if thats what you want. Wait. Im coming over to discuss this with you. "

*****

Brianna's pregnancy was coming along nicely. As much as she wanted not to gain weight she did. For Brianna it was important to maintain healthy especially if she was going to go to college and get some sort of scholarship. Besides ever since Neil found out she was pregnant he barely even talks to her. Neil was allowed to live at her house but only came around once in a while since he still lived with his parents. After her "light" workout Brianna decided to go and cool off for a bit outside.

Neil came to visit after his job only to find Brianna out in the back. At first he thought that she was sunbathing and fell asleep. As he got closer to her he noticed there was something wrong. He ran to her and realized that she was non responsive. He immediately ran inside and called emergency services. She was rushed to the hospital.

A week later, Maria- Celeste came home just in time to see her husband and his collegue come home.
"Hi, honey. Hi Steven its been a long time since you came over. How have you been?"
"I'm fine Maria. How is Brianna? I heard about the incident. how is she taking it?"
"Well she has been in and out. I dont know if she is aware of anything. "
"At this point im just glad that Maria-Celeste was able to get the doctor to sign her out so we can take care of her at home. This is where she needs to be and not some hospital." oscar said.
"I know. well I am going to go in and talk to her for a while. Marcos called me and told me she was finally up and about. It looks like our baby girl is going to make it after all."

"How's my baby girl" asked Maria-Celeste.

"hi mom. Are you ready to tell me whats going on? How long have I been out like this? I feel like I have been sleeping forever."

"You practically have. Honey we need to talk. You had an accident outside and Neil found you. I dont know how to exactly tell you."

"Mom just tell me please. I can tell that I lost the baby. I know that much. I just dont know how it happened. I mean I only did light work outs."

"Honey you cant go blaming yourself. But oh honey.." Maria-Celeste proceeded to tell Brianna all the care that she got in the hospital. She also included the emergency surgery that took place and the awful consequence of the surgery. Because of the massive hemmorraging Brianna had to have a hysterectomy. Therefore Brianna would never be able to have children. Brianna could not believe what her mom was telling her. She sobbed and Maria- Celeste held her sobbing daughter wishing she could take her place.

Brianna was getting back to what she could call "normal". In the past few weeks she learned to cope with the ability of not having kids. But what she could not cope with was Neil telling her that he needed a break. She decided to ask her mom and see what her thoughts were on the subject.

"What does Neil mean with 'break'? I dont understand honey what he means by that."

"He told me that he wants to make sure were together for real and not for the baby."

"Honey, your going to college. Let him deal with it as he would like. I am sure that you want to make it seem as though you guys are OK but losing a baby is a big deal. I think that you should really think about going to counseling."

"Mom, im fine. I dont need couseling. What I need is to get back into school and go to college. I need to focus on myself and not Neil all the time. Are you and dad still willing to send me to college?"

"We never doubted we would."

****

Brianna was hanging out with her little sister Adrienne when Ian came home very upset. Brianna told Adrienne to watch TV for a bit while she talked to Ian.
"Hey whats up?"
"I'm moving out. I dont want mom and dad to be dissapointed but im moving out because Debbie and I got married today."
"What? why did you do that? You didnt tell them?"
"No. Look I dont want all of you trying to fix my things. Debbie is expecting my child and they are busy enough as it is with your problems. Im not blaming you. I am just saying that it is what it is. Were are finding an aparment near downtown. I'll email you the address. I have to go."
"what do I tell mom and dad?"
"the same thing I told you. Bye Debbie is waiting in the car for me."
And with that Ian walked out of their home.

Oscar arrived home to a house full of chaos.
"Whoa, whats going on here? Why is everyone yelling?"
"Oscar your son Ian just got married and moved out."
"what? what are you talking about."
Maria-Celeste proceeded to tellOscar everything and they were both up in arms.

*****

Later that week Maria Celeste found out that she was pregnant yet again. She really didnt know how this family was going to handle another child when her other children were acting out. Could it be that she may need to consider retiring from her career? Somehow she needed to talk to Oscar and see what their best possibilities would be.

Generation 1--Oscar ***Season 5

Oscar
Season: Summer Loan Debt: 154,400
Household members: Oscar Job: Family Law Attorney, Wife: Maria-Celeste Job: Inter
Children: Amarilis, Consuelo, Oscar Simon II (teen stage), Briann, Ian and Marcos (teen stage)

For the first time Oscar was actually shocked that he didnt get tripletts again. The Barillas family welcomed their newest addition. A set of Twins. First born was Adam followed by his lovely sister Adrienne. The whole family was shocked to see the new babies as well as wondering where every one would sleep. For a minute the house seemed too small for everyone to live comfortably.

Ian was busy with his new side job of being a car rehabber. Both his parents knew that this was his calling. For some reason both Oscar and Maria didnt fear the future for Ian. Ian maintained himself away from his sibilings and spent most of his freetime on his cars.

Soon it was time for the invaluable, "So your going away to college talk." Maria-Celeste talked to Amarilis, Consuelo and Oscar Simon about the ways of life and the expectations of going away to college. Amarilis was more than bored with the conversation. Unlike her sibilings, Amarilis was sad because she was upset that Meadow left for college. They had broken up and Amarilis wanted to get away from everything that reminded her of Meadow and their happier times.

For Oscar it seemed to be starting all over again. Before he knew it he had walked in on Brianna hugging on some guy named Neil. He could not stand it so he asked for Neil to leave.

Oscar asked his wife if she approved of Niel being at their house what seemed like all the time. "You are OK with Neil being here all the time with Brianna. I am telling you that girl has got to cool down her heels." "I know Oscar I have talked to her and even placed the rule of having good grades. She has good grades and found a job after school. I will talk to Ian and Marcos to keep an eye on her". "I hope so Maria because I cant deal with another crisis like Simon. At least both of them went away to college. I dont know but I think we were wrong and they might make it after all. " Maria replied, " I know..but it sure feels good to be wrong. "
