Carson Barillas Chapter 6- Four is greater than two.

Carson (29), Vanessa (28)
Their kids: Jewel and Julian (twins age 4)
Narrated by Vanessa.
Carson Barillas chapter 6
I am still working throughout my pregnancy. We do not have the luxury of me having time off. Carson is finally done with school but he is waiting for his position to become official. Meanwhile I take advantage and let him baby sit the twins.
Carson Barillas chapter 6
I love coming home and Carson has them in bed and I can just go and lie down.
Carson Barillas chapter 6
The twins are turning five and we literally have no money to celebrate their birthday like before. Sure we could ask my mother in laws but Carson and I agreed not to. We are trying to do thing on our own and that is how its going to be.
Carson Barillas chapter 6
I finally gave birth at home. It was not easy and to everyone's shock I had twins.
Carson Barillas chapter 6
Thank god we managed to scrap up some money for additional beds. The twins outgrew their cribs so our new set of twins have them. We decided to name them Giovanni and Lorenzo.
Carson Barillas chapter 6
We had a small family dinner for Jewel and Julian's birthday. They took it well. I know we do not want to spoil them but I know times are going to get better for us. For now four kids is definitely harder than two.

Alfredo Barillas Chapter 7- We are party Central.

Alfredo (29), Merill (34)
Narrated by Alfredo.
Alfredo Barillas Ch-6
We have been married for two years and loving every minute of it. We are both settled and are happy to come home and relax.
Alfredo Barillas Ch-6
Just because were married does not mean we have to let ourselves go. I am still struggling with my weight . As soon as I feel the pounds accumulating I get on the treadmill. Merrill has always had the perfect body so he just works out to accompany me.
Alfredo Barillas Ch-6
Family is important to us. It's great knowing that Merrill does not mind our family coming over for dinner. We had my quad brothers/sister: Carson, his wife Vanessa, Dylan and we all gasped when Leo walked through the door. Shaila came over but Weldon had to work so she came alone. Leo hardly comes out anymore so we were all excited to have him over.
Alfredo Barillas Ch-6
Carson is now a general practioner and I could not be happier for my brother. He deserves it after all the schooling he went through. He even joked that I should get my bachelor's degree. For right now I was content with my job as a police officer.
Alfredo Barillas Ch-6
My sister is excited about her upcoming nuptials. Our moms are too busy to help so Shaila asks Merrill to help her. My husband is a professional Party guest so he definitely knows how to entertain. He was a great help to Shaila.
Alfredo Barillas Ch-6
Don't get me wrong. We love having family over but we also love it when we have nights in. We lie in bed and curl up with a good book. Sometimes Merrill says its too much being a party guest and it wears him out. He thinks that he may start looking for another job soon.
Alfredo Barillas Ch-6
Finally I got a chance to talk to my mom Consuelo. Her business is picking up and my little sister Jacquelinbe is giving her problems. I guess my mom did no expect having a granddaughter at home would be so easy. It is amazing to me how Jacqueline still lives at home with her wife and baby girl.
Alfredo Barillas Ch-6
At another family dinner, Weldon finally had a day off of his job to come and hang with us. Having lived with us Weldon felt at home. He was amazed at how we had changed our apartment.
Alfredo Barillas Ch-6
Carson and I have been bonding more lately. We even have a chance to play some rock paper scissors to make a decision. It reminds of us old times.
Alfredo Barillas Ch-6
Sure dinner parties are fun but the worse is cleaning it up. We leave it to he next day even though it annoys our neighbors. I do not know how they claim to know our apartment stinks. I think they are rude by knocking on our door to tell us.
Alfredo Barillas Ch-6
I guess the education bug is hitting my family. Carson has not only been trying to convince me to get a BA but now he managed to convince Merrill. He approached me but I really was not feeling it. He begged me to think about. He says it would be the best thing for our future. He even said we could earn money to buy a house some day or even move from Viramontes. I never thought about buying a house let alone moving!
Alfredo Barillas Ch-6
I just did not feel it. Merrill said that he was going to go for it and he hoped I would support his decision. I know I may regret this chance but I just hate school. This is the reason I did not go to college!
Alfredo Barillas Ch-6
A few weeks later Merrill could not stop talking about his new friends at college. He does everything online but he being the party planner got the students to meet up to study. I am not liking this one bit. He is changing and I do not know where this will take us.
Alfredo Barillas Ch-6
I came home and hugged Merrill so strong. He said, "what this for" and I simply responded, "To let you know I love you and I registered for college today". I know....I said I did not want to go but in the end if it will improve us then why not. I just hope I survive it.

Justin Barillas ch 8- The never ending degree challenge

Justin (33) his wife Lashawn (42)
Their children: twins Candice and Cameron (6)
Narrated by Justin.
Justin Barillas chapter 8
We still wake up and marvel at how quiet the house is. The twins are now six and pretty much can get up and play with their toys. Even though we can sleep just a little bit more, we still tend to get out of bed early.
Justin Barillas chapter 8
Lashawn and I have been happy these past years that we have been married. The other day Lashawn came up to me and hugged me. It had been a while since we did something as simple as give each other a hug. We have been married 14 years. I still can not believe that we have been married that long.
Justin Barillas chapter 8
14 years ago I did not have as much weight as I am carrying now. I try to work out but with the kids and our store it is hard to find time. I do not like working out but I know it has its benefits.
Justin Barillas chapter 8
Finally the fishing season has started and the fish are biting like crazy in our lake. Lashawn likes to take a break from studying her finals to hang out with me. She still can not believe that I like fishing as much as I do.
Justin Barillas chapter 8
She finds time between her job and getting her masters to play with Candice. Candice is six now. I still can not believe she is actually in school now.
Justin Barillas chapter 8
The store is open every day except or Sunday. I still gave my employees job evaluations. we have been doing great these past few years. Sometimes I remember how I wanted to close this store down. I am grateful I did not because we are now finally out of the red.
Justin Barillas chapter 8
LaShawn always complains that it is taking her forever to finish her master's. There have been plenty of times where she wants to just plain quit. I tell her to take it easy and before she knows it she will have finished.
Justin Barillas chapter 8
I want to make sure my kids know how to fish. Candice is more into it than my son Cameron. When I look at my kids I wonder if we should try to have more. Lashawn says that she is fine with the twins but sometimes I wonder. Don't get me wrong I love having just my pair of perfect little kids.
Justin Barillas chapter 8
Now Lashawn is finally doing her papers for her degree. I take the kids out so they wont bother her. We are all on the right track and I am happy for our drama free life so far.

Marcos Barillas Ch-8 We do things our way

Marcos (37) Renee (28)
Marcos children with ex-Linda : Quads: David, Eugenio, Pearla and Mateo (10)
Narrated by Renee
Marcos Barillas ch 8
Marcos Barillas ch 8
I truly love my step children. Not many people would say that but I do. Since Marcos and I have decided to go for our masters we put having a baby on the back burner for now. I think it is nice to see all of us studying together. As long as I have known the "quads" , they never seem to get their homework down on time.
Marcos Barillas ch 8
Marcos is using a different approach to get his masters. Instead of doing his research first, he decided to do his papers first. I call that brave. I do not know enough of my subject matter to do that . I rather study, complete then course and then do the papers.
Marcos Barillas ch 8
It is always sad for me when its the kids turn to go to their mom's house. I was their nanny and now they are growing up so fast. They asked if they could call me mom#2 the other day. It warmed my heart and I told them they can call me whatever they want.
Marcos Barillas ch 8
Marcos and Linda seem to be getting along better now than they ever did. I still remember meeting Linda when she was recording albums left and right. Now that she married Payton she has decided just to work part-time as a promoter. I hope it works well for her. I am just happy that for now we are all a big happy family.
Marcos Barillas ch 8
Remember how I said that Marcos and I put the baby thing on the back burner? Turns out that I am pregnant. I did not think that after my last miscarriage I would get pregnant but I did. I know the doctors said I would be fine but I was still worried. Marcos was ecstatic for us.
Marcos Barillas ch 8
With the quads gone this gave me the leisure to walk around almost free of clothing. I can not believe how hard it is to walk up stairs when you are so pregnant!
Marcos Barillas ch 8
The pain was so severe that we had a home birth. To our surprise it was not one but twins.
Marcos Barillas ch 8
Here is my son Germelo.
Marcos Barillas ch 8
And my beautiful daughter Anai. We are so blessed to have these two bundles of joy and now I cant wait for the quads to meet these two peas in a pod.

Ian Barillas -Chapter 8. When to call it quits.

Ian (37), Mary (36) their children : Darcy (Ian+Debbie's child) (11), Sayra (6)
Narrated by Ian.
Ian Barilla Chapter 8
It was so late when I got home. Time literally ran away from me. Anna was getting too clingy. She said she wanted for us to be exclusive. In other words she wanted me to leave Mary. I thought about it the whole way home and I think I am beginning to realize that I need to grow up. When will my time with these women end?
I was going to just lay down and think when Mary woke up and looked at me. She looked at me like she has never done before. "There is something on the table for you. Ian I have accepted a lot but my patience is over. I don't want Sayra looking at the presents you get from your tramps" I did not know what to say so I went to the kitchen wondering what it could be.
Ian Barilla Chapter 8
I was so upset when I saw the dozen roses. I had no idea who they could be from because I started seeing another girl along with me seeing Anna. I grabbed the card and to my horror they were from Anna. The card read, "to a new beginning for us. I am waiting for you at home". My mind raced as I tried to see if the card had been opened or not. It looked sealed prior to me opening it. I tore the card up into a million pieces and swore never to see Anna again. What is it with women and sending me flowers. I headed back to bed to sleep and hopefully come up with a strategy on how to keep Mary and give up Anna and the other women.
Ian Barilla Chapter 8
I slipped into bed and right when I was dozing off Mary said, "I know what that card says. You tend to forget that is the way I broke the news of us to Debbie. You can call it Karma but it still hurts. Ian if you do not fix this then I will. I will leave you and take Sayra with me. I did not expect this to happen to us." With that she fell asleep and let me lie there thinking of what to do.
Ian Barilla Chapter 8
A few days went by and finally Mary was ready to talk. We talked about our relationship and what it meant for both of us. She said she had been waiting to get engaged and I never proposed. I just was not ready. We are so financially broke due to my divorce settlement and she wants a ring? She got up upset because I told her that at this moment marriage was not possible for us. We had too many issues to just say ,"I do".
Ian Barilla Chapter 8
Marcos came over to see me and to discuss how we could help Brianna. I thought this was Simon's job since he is the legacy leader but he is out of the country and unable to come back in such short notice. I agreed that we would take Taylor and Isaiah and have them hang out with our kids. Marcos also asked me how my relationship with Mary was going. I told him what had happened and he was disappointed, "if you don't fix your problems Ian your never going to be able to be happy. What is wrong? It seems that you were only faithful to Debbie and then it all went downhill".
*******
Ian Barilla Chapter 8
I had Marcos, Renee, Brianna and her kids over for dinner. Mary did not feel too much like hosting but I told her to relax and I would take care of everything. I looked around the table and realized that it had been a long time since we were kids. Now everyone is married except me. I do love Mary but I am not ready to commit. Is that such a bad thing? It is if you look around this table. I caught Mary looking at me and I could tell she was thinking about our conversations about staying together or separating.
Ian Barilla Chapter 8
Sayra and Taylor had met before but did not have a great opportunity to play. Now they were fast becoming friends and I was glad.
Ian Barilla Chapter 8
When it was time to say goodbye I made sure to give Brianna a tight squeeze. I wanted her to know that if she needed anything that I was there for her.
*****
Ian Barilla Chapter 8
Mary came home one day and her looked had changed so much. I thought it was too drastic but she told me that she needed something new something now. She also needed to know what was my decision of our relationship. I sat her down and told her that we should start going out on dates and refresh our relationship. She thought it was a cop out and went to the bedroom.
Ian Barilla Chapter 8
I managed to get her to go on a date with me. It was hard work but at least she said yes.
Ian Barilla Chapter 8
"Is there anything wrong with your food Mary?"
"No. Ian, why are you with me if you cheat on me so much? I know its more than one. I just need to know why? Is it because I put up with it?"
"NO Mary. I just. Look when I met you I was so bored in my marriage to Debbie. I needed space, I did not want to grow up so fast. I had 3 kids at age 30. It was too much too fast between Debbie and I. Remember I got married at 17. Can you imagine? Debbie was 27 and it was too soon too fast. Look at me. I barely have a high school diploma and I am lucky to have the job that I have but I feel..."
"Ian you grew up too fast. I get it. But why be with me?"
"The truth? I went with you because you were pregnant with Sayra. I was raised to face my responsibilities. I love you. I grew to love who you really are. I just needed to realize that I need to be with you"
"Be with me Ian? What because I have your daughter?"
We ate the rest of the meal in silence. I paid the check and we were on our way home.
Ian Barilla Chapter 8
"Look Ian. I think there is a lot you need to think about and I think its best that its without me in it."
"Mary we can work things out. I promise"
"No. you always promise and a few months later we are back to square one. I want Sayra to grow up with you and with me as a family. I think we need space to think. Unlike you I dont want to act irrationally so I will take my time. For now if you want to date then date."
"Mary I dont want that"
"No I think you dont want me to do to you what you have been doing to me. Lets go home Sayra must be waiting"

Ian Barilla Chapter 8
Dinner did not go as planned. I got up early and gave Sayra her cereal. I looked at my daughter and wondered what she would do when she realizes her mom and I are separating. It hurts me to think it but Mary might be right.
