Amarilis Barillas--Generation 2--Chapter 6

Amarilis (age 35), Meadow her girlfriend, (age 35)
Their children: Twins Aaron and Isabel (age 15), and Arthur (age 4).

Amarilis is happy to see that her children are hanging out and even talking with their cousins of the same age. Jacquelyn (Consuelo's Daughter) came over to hang out and talk about how her life has been going.
"Definitely Aunt Maura and Aunt Consuelo are over then?" asked Aaron.
"I think so. My mom Maura came to ask my mom Consuelo about getting back together..or so Sheila says. I dont think my mom Consuelo wants to. She is tired all the time and it seems that the farm is going bust. I am telling you that we are literally farming day and night. Now that my older brothers and sister are moving or going to college lord knows what we will do." replied Jacquelyn.
The twins stared at each other both hoping that some day their own parents wouldnt wind up divorcing.

Aaron had begun to use the treadmill non stop. Amarilis noticed that her son started shaping up and thought that maybe some day soon she will start training him. After all she now was an all star athlete at the top of her career.

Soon they found the reason for Aarons change of style, cologne and physique. Her name is Heather Huffington and she has Aaron chasing after her like was no tomorrow. At least she did respond to his flirting. Aaron loved Heather since he first saw her and he knew that she would be his. Its something about him knowing that made him courageous in his flirtation.

Amarilis had a lot to think about. She missed her mom and dad so much. Her mom being here eased the pain of her father's death but now they only had each other. As much as she and Simon tried to keep in touch with the whole family it was hard. Amarilis was more worried about her sister Consuelo and how she was financially. She knew that sooner or later she would ask for her help and Amarilis would not deny her. This is why Amarilis loved that her nieces and nephews were over for dinner and other things. Despite that she also tried to console Adam because she could never dream being without one of her own triplet (oscar simon, consuelo and amarilis were born together.) As much as she tried Adam didnt really talk to her much. It seemed that his conversation was mostly with her younger sister Brianna. Either way she still reached out to the baby of the family. Justin and his wife Leshawn were due to show up at any minute and she needed to get this food ready.

Leshawn and Justin arrived and loved the meal that his older sister had prepared. This was a perfect opportunity to get to meet Amarilis and her family. Justin had a huge family but Lashawn had only met, Adrienne, Adam since they all lived together for a while. The conversation flowed lightly and they all had a great time.

Mr. Aaron had pursued his relationship with Heather and had managed to make her his steady girlfriend. He felt as though he couldnt breathe unless he was with her. They would spend hours at a time together. This was noticed by both his parents. Meadow would tell Amarilis to take it easy while Amarilis would tell Meadow that disaster was on the horizon.

Maybe Amarilis was right. One day when they arrived home early, Aaron and Heather found themselves alone. Not wanting to waste time they began flirting and making out as usual. Before they knew it they were on his parents bed having sex for the first time. Heather loved feeling close to Aaron but now she feared that he wouldnt want to be with her anymore.
"Does this change things between us? Maybe we should have waited."
"Ya, but look I love you and well if you want to wait before we do it again I understand. I just couldnt stop myself" aaron said.
"Shh.. did you hear something? I think your sister is home. Lets gets dressed."
"ya. Come on Ill make us something to eat"

It was just as Aaron was pulling up his swim trunks that Amarilis walked in. She was not stupid she could only guess what had happened.
"Mrs. Barillas. I ... um we were just taking a tour of the house."
"Heather" said Amarilis," I suggest that you leave before you further embarass yourself. If you havent noticed my bed is not made like I left it this morning and the sheets are stained. Now be a good girl and go home. I will be calling your parents later."
"Please...please dont tell them" Heather pleaded.
"mom... we were just."
"I will give you two minutes to tidy this up get her out of here and I want to talk to you here before your sister and brother get home. I mean it Aaron dont mess with me."

Aaron walked Heather out and told her not to worry that he would handle things. He walked back up stairs and it seemed like eternity before he reached his mom's room.
"can i come in?"
"Aaron what were you thinking? Look I know that you and Heather are thinking about being together and being adults but your not. Aaron did you even use precautions? What if she gets pregnant. Son ..having sex or im sure you will tell me its 'making love' its a responsibility. I know you think of it as having fun and it feels good. But trust me there are consequences. Now thats only the sex part. now we have to discuss the trust issue. what would make you think that it is OK to be here in my room and on my bed I have no idea. You are now grounded til further notice. You will not have any time on any playful things i.e. the video game nor any hobbies. You will clean and disinfect this whole room and bathroom. You will wash my sheets. You will go to school come home and thats it. DO YOU HEAR ME?!?!?"
"Yes mom. ...mom cant we discuss this as adults?"
"Adults....Aaron your only 15 and trust me if you were any where near being an adult you would know how to cover things up to maintain some form of decency for your girlfriend at least. Im sure she was more embarrassed than you at being caught."

Later that night Meadow arrived so tired from her job. Her mission was to get home take a shower and go to sleep. She was amazed that at this late hour Amarilis would be up playing video games.
"Wow your still up? im going to bed im exhausted."
"We need to talk and I know your exhausted but you will never guess what type of day I had"
Amarilis explained the whole ordeal to Meadow who was in shock. For some reason she feard Amarilis' "I told you so" more than anything. They agreed that Meadow would talk to their son.

"hey Mom im getting breakfast ready and"
"Aaron. Dont give me the hey mom like I dont know what happened. Your grounded and we will discuss this once I have had time to process. I know your mom let you have it so you dont need to hear it from me. OK. BUT you are grounded and I am not changing any of your punishment so forget asking me."

Isabel was now used to seeing her brother either reading or doing homework but she didnt know why. Before Aaron would race to do his homework and chores just so that he could play his video games or see Heather. Now he was as if punished. She knew something was up but didnt want to press her brother. Enough was enough she was going to ask her brother.
"Alright spill it. Why are you here and what didyou do?"
"Isabel I dont want to talk about it."
"Aaron come on. talk to me. I talked to Heather she asked about you. What happened that she got her classes all switched around?"
"alright mom Amarilis caught us in her room and we were...well you know."
"You were what Aaron? what fooling around or?"
"the Or."
"You had sex?!?!?!?"
"Ya. Dont tell no one. I cant believe that Im even telling you. If you tell anyone I'll"
"You know I wont. What were you thinking? Ugh especially since mom amarilis found you. If it were mom Meadow...thats different. Im amazed that your alive to tell the tale. So this is why your always studying. Well mama Meadow is downstairs go talk to her maybe she will lift up your punishment..dude its been months!"

"Hey mom..."
"Yes whats up son."
"when is this punishment over? I mean come on I have done everything you and mom have asked."
Meadow put the controller and looked at her son. She still couldnt believe that he was 15 and sexually active now.
"I want you to look at me. I need you to understand that these months of grounding were not because you had sex with Heather. It was because you broke our trust. Do I think you are too young to have sex... YES of course I do. Listen son times have changed but you need to understand that sex is a big deal. What if Heather got pregnant? What if heather left you or cheated on you and now you have a disease? Or what if you cheat on her and dont protect yourself and now give her a disease. I need you to understand that this action has opened a whole new door of choices that your mom and I hoped you would experience a little later in life. If you have question you have me or you mom...you even have uncles. I think you need a male mentor..we have asked your uncle Justin and he has agreed to talk to you about this. Listen we, your mom and I recognize that its hard for us to feel what you feel since your a boy and were girls. Take this opportunity with your uncle Justin and talk to him. Make sure to ask all of the questions you need to know. Things in that area dont change a lot with age OK."
"OK mom. thanks."
"Alright now get ready because when mom comes home were celebrating Arthurs birthday!"

"im so glad you convinced me to have a quiet party just for us Meadow. This is how this should be...right Arthur"

To celebrate both Meadow and Amarilis brought several musical instruments to help shape thier kids muscial interest. They bought an electric guitar.

They also brought this piano. Hopefully the kids will now play instruments instead of playing video games all day.

"well this has been eventful huh?"
"Ya. Amarilis..babe, I lifted Aaron's punishment today. I told him about going to talk to Justin. he agreed he will go. Do you think he will see Heather again?"
"Yes....im amazed he hasnt. He's a good kid... just that his hormones got the better of him. I just hope that he uses his new gained wisdom now."
"good night...I love you."
"and I love you."

Amarilis Barillas--Generation 2-Chapter 2

Amarilis was still getting used to living with Meadow. Due to her current Job Meadow tended to travel more than usual. Meadow did agree that she needed to get a promotion and get out of so much travelling. But until that happened Amarilis would be home alone enjoying her own company.

Meadow finally made it home and got news that she expected and didnt expect. Thanks to her hard work she had finally gained th promotion that she was seeking. It also came right on time since she found out from the doctor that she was pregnant. Meadow was happy yet scared.

When Meadow told Amarilis she was left speechless. "So were expecting? I well this is a surprise. I am now definitely glad that you got your promotion. Wow."

While Meadow was busy working Amarilis managed to put time aside for her sister and her wife Maura to come over to visit. Her sister Consuelo (in the pink shirt) and Maura had just welcomed quads to their life. It was truly amazing that they managed to even have time for dinner. Consuelo was busy telling Amarilis that she may have to move if they had a big brood or if they decided to have more children. For now Amarilis was just concentrating on Meadows first pregnancy and she wanted to save up some money first.

Meadow wanting to pick up the hobby of sewing and Amarilis was told this was part of her "Nesting phase". Nesting phase or not, Amarilis hated this phase. She couldnt sit down a cup without Meadow magically appearing to clean it up.

On the night of her delivery Amarilis held her breath because if you notice she already was holding her son and now Meadow was giving birth to another. But dont worry for them it was just another baby. So now they were proud parents of twins. They decided to name them Aaron and Isabel.

Amarilis Barillas, Generation 2 ** Chapter 1

After college Amarilis decided to rent an apartment downtown. Yes she could have moved back home but her heart was not in it. She wanted her own freedom. After all she was a college graduate and she deserved to have some time on her own. For once she found her self alone in her two bedroom apartment.

The first thing she did when getting settled was to call her high school sweetheart Meadow. Meadow too had returned to Viramontes. She was shocked to hear that Amarilis had tracked her down and asked her over for dinner.
"So Meadow it has been a long time has it not? I am still amazed that you didnt try to call me or even contact me during college. We did leave off to school on a good note did we not?"
"I know Amarilis. College life was so different so free that it just got to me. Besides im sure that you had your little adventures there. Did you really miss me?"
"You know I did Meadow. I only thought of you and coming back and hoping that what we had was real. Im still gay are you?"
"What type of question is that? Of course I am . Did you think otherwise?"
"No. I just..well I wanted to find out what you thought. "
The night continued and they remembered the good ole times. Meadow caught up on the news of the Barillas clan and was amazed to hear that Ian was married.

One thing lead to another and they found themselves in bed. Amarilis had dreamed about being with Meadow in high school. They did go steady but Amarilis didnt have the courage to take it to the next level. Now that they were adults...well things were different. Everything was as she imagined it. She just hoped that Meadow had a great time to.

The next morning it was a little difficult. Amarilis did not know what to say. She knew that she didnt want this to be a one time thing. She wanted to renew her relationship with Meadow. Amarilis was getting her speech prepared when Meadow began to talk.
"Look I loved last night but im not ready for anything serious. How about we just chalk this up to experience."
"What? Meadow I didnt plan for last night to happen but it did. I actually wanted us to maybe give our relationship a test drive. What do you think?"
"I think that I am not ready for a relationship. Amarilis were barely out of college and you want me to go ahead and commit to you. I cant at least not now. I want to but what if were missing out? I think I rather us date around and see how things go. I have to go. I need to get ready for an assignment that is due for work. we will talk when I get back OK."

Weeks passed by and Amarilis didnt hear anything from Meadow. She decided to take the hint and presue dating other people. She met and dated Susan Funchs. She was OK but nothing really compared to her meadow. For Susan it was a different story. Susan swore that something was brewing between herself and Amarilis.

Sure Amarilis flirted a little. Who wouldnt? But in reality she wasnt feeling it and knew that she would have to end it sooner than later. Susan on the other hand managed to change the subject everytime Amarilis wanted to break it off.

Susan even began to be the agressor and plant a kiss on Amarilis. Susan had surprise Amarilis that day and even managed to come in unannounced and and began to try to kiss Amarilis.
"Whoa there Susan..whats going on? I think that we need to talk. This is going a little too far dont you think?"
"No on the contrary. Im tired of just talking Amarilis..lets test the waters in the next level."

Before Susan could even test the water Meadow had come to pay Amarilis a visit.
"Amarilis, you know you shouldnt leave your door un--- Oh im sorry.. I didnt know that you were so busy with someone else. So much for missing me right? Sorry to barge in like that."
"Meadow wait. Its not what you think."
"Its not what she thinks? Then what tell me has been going on these past few weeks? Oh wait i get it. This is why we havent even touched or passed first base huh? Listen I dont know what you two have going on but you need to figure it out before you involve other people. Im gone. Amarilis when you finally decide what you want give me a call." Susan said. With her departure that left Meadow and Amarilis alone staring at each other.

Before Amarilis knew it Susan had slapped her. Amarilis was dumb founded.
"Thats why you wanted me to be with you? So that you could cheat on me the first chance you had? I dont think so. I am sooo glad that I decided that we were not going to be together. I knew you couldnt handle this phase of my career. Amarilis dont ever ..." and then Meadow began to sob uncontrollably.

Amarilis went to get her some tissue or water so that she could calm down and before she even stepped back to Meadow she said, "Amarilis im out of here. I dont want to be bothered by this. You made your choice and I respect it." Amarilis could not believe that her love of her life was leaving like this.. there was no way.
"Wait. No dont you dare! I am not letting you leave things like this between us. Come here. No STOP"

"Meadow. I love you and only you. Why dont you just see that you and I are meant for each other? Meadow you are the one pushing me away! Look if this is truly what you want then fine..otherwise ...Your mine and thats it."
Amarilis grabbed Meadow and kissed her as though she could seal herself and meadow together.

The next morning Amarilis and Meadow sat down together.
"Im sorry about barging in here like that yesterday" Meadow said.
"I know you didnt mean to. Meadow I would love for you to move in with me so that we can live together. I just want you .. what do you say?"
Meadow for once decided to just go with the flow. "Yes I will move in. I love you Amarilis".

Generation 2--Justin Barillas**Chapter 2

Justin Barillas and Lashuan Cameron
Season: Winter Loan Debt 41,000
Justin's job: Intern for city planning career.
Lashaun's job: University Guest Lecturer.

Justin and Lashuan have decided on a whim to open a small home business. Afterall their house had a smaller house built on the side that was unattached. Justin thought that this would be a good opportunity to rid themselves of some debt. Justin practiced his skills at sewing while Lashuan did the pottery. So far their business was doing so so. It wasnt in the black but it gave them extra income at times.

Lashuan and Justin were good for each other. Despite their age difference Lashuan knew that Justin was goal oriented. There were times when Justin doubted himself but there was Lashuan willing to give him motivation.
Justin was happy even though he was saddened by his sister's death. He too had examined his life and that was the main reason for the business. He just hoped that he would let not only himself down but also Lashuan.

Generation 2--Adam Barillas**Chapter 2

Adam woke up and wished that he were living a dream and that this would not be his reality. Yet he knew all too well that this was real. His twin sister Adrienne had passed away. He kept reliving the final moments in his head over and over again. If only he would have taken her to a doctor when she said she was ill? He couldnt bare the guilt that was rendered by the "what ifs". Finally he got ready and went to bid Adrienne farewell.


They buried Adrienne where his parents were buried. Viramontes had started a cemetary and they bought plenty of plots to bury their family. While the family was there they couldn't help but mourn their parents grave. It seemed that Adrienne had passed right after his mom.


Adam returned home and read the paper to try to get his mind off of things. As he was looking through it he saw his sister's obituary. It was a nice one he thought. He still had not called Gerard. It was hard to call him because he didnt know the extent of him and Adriennes relationship. He didnt know how he was going to live on but Adam had to do just that. His brothers and sisters were comforting but they didnt understand. Adrienne was not only his sister but was his twin sister. He knew her since the beginning of their lives.


Oddly enough his brother and sister would come by often to make sure he was OK. Marcos decided to stop by with his pregnant wife Linda. Linda always tried to make sure she kept contact with the whole family. For Adam this was sometimes annoying because she called constantly. Either way he knew his sister-in-law meant well therefore he put up with it.

Things with Kaylynn were better than ever. Adam finally decided to date only her and take their relationship to a newer level. Kaylynn seemed OK with it and even comforted him when she heard about Adrienne.


Adam got a new hair cut and decided that he was going to live his life to the fullest. He did not want to take his life for granted. He decided to persuade Kaylynn to accompany him on a vacation to take his mind off of things. Kaylynn didnt want to go but finally agreed to go.

They decided to take a few days and head off to Twikki Island for some summer fun.

Adam got the best massages in the world there. He felt his stress slowly but surely slip away. This is what it felt like to live the big life. Finally Adam was able to relax a little bit.

By sundown both Adam and Kaylynn were enjoying dinner in their balcony. Kaylynn loved this trip and felt that she could live here forever. Adam agreed. It was at this time..these times where he looked at Kaylynn and thought, " I think she is the one". He was going to have to go look for a ring once they got back to Viramontes. He would propose and hopefully she would accept.

On their last day on Twikki Island they both laid out to catch some sun. Adam loved this life and Kaylynn by his side made this trip even more meaningful.

Back at home Adam was not surprised that Linda was so concerned that she couldnt reach him. Adam explained that he went on a trip with Kaylynn. He also managed to let it slip out that he was planning on proposing to her. Marcos was happy for his brother even though he felt that he was rushing a bit much. Marcos put his reservations aside and wished Adam the best of luck when he proposed.

Adam had it all planned out. He broke out the champagne and was getting ready to ask Kaylynn when she interrupted.
"Im so glad that you bought this champagne Adam. I wanted to give you the big news. I got a promotion in my job and well I have to relocate."
"What? Your leaving Viramontes? I thought you were set on staying here."
"I was but you know how work is. Im sure if your company asked you to move and a big promotion came with it then you would do it right?"
"Im sorry Kaylynn I just thought that you and I had a future together. I was even hoping that we could maybe get married some day."
"What? Marriage? Adam its a little soon dont you think? Besides after your sister's death it would be too rushed. I know you want to live your life to the fullest and I dont want us to get engaged just because. I like you a lot but at this point in time my career is important to me. I just hope that we can stay friends?" asked Kaylynn.
"Friends huh? Ya. Why not?" Adam replied. He touched the box in his pocket and realized that her moving away was the best thing to happen. He lied when he said he could be her friend. There was no way he would stand around and watch he be happy with some one else. He knew that she really didnt mean for them to stay friends anyway.

Time came for Kaylynn to leave Viramontes.
"Well im all packed up and my apartment has been rented out. Are you going to be OK Adam? You have my number. I really hope that we do keep in touch."
"I do have your number. Listen im sorry that I have been distant these few weeks. I wish you nothing but the best. I hope that you are happy in your new town. Take care."
"Thanks Adam. I wish you the best too."
Kaylynn left and Adam watched her get in her cab and wave goodbye. So this was it.. Adam was alone again. Well he thought, "At least I have my career."

Adrienne Barillas--Generation 2 ** Chapter 2

Adrienne Barillas

Job: Assistant Coach

Season: Winter Loan Debt: $0

Household members: Herself.

Parents: Oscar and Maria-Celeste Barillas (Deceased)
Sibilings (in birth order): Amarilis, Consuelo, Oscar Simon II, Brianna, Ian, Marcos, herself, Adam (her twin) and Justin.


Gerard and Adrienne managed to finally set up some time to date. Gerard is a physician who happened to work with Adrienne's mom.

"So how are you doing? I havent called you because with your mom's passing
I wanted to give you some space." "Im fine Gerard. I actually wanted
to call you to but I dont know I havent been feeling that great lately.
How is working coming along? Is everyone surviving without my mom being
there?" "Its wierd not seeing your mom there Adrienne, but were
surviving. Listen lets go and have some coffee."

Ever since they met Adrienne and Gerard have had instant chemistry. Adrienne loved being with Gerard and he felt the same about her.

Adam came over to see how his sister was doing. He had called her earlier but she sounded groggy and stated she was tired. "so whats up? I didnt like the way you sounded so I came to see how you are doing." Adrienne replied, "I'm fine. I just feel so sick lately. Gerard seems to think that im feeling this way because of mom but I just dont know. But listen how are you doing?" "Im fine sis. The girls at apartment complex still havent talked to each other but im leaning more towards one girl than the other. I dont want to be in a love triangle...especially where I live."

Adrienne looked at her brother and was amazed at how much attention her brother was getting from the females. Being her twin she was happy to see him happy.

Adrienne and Gerard's relationship was moving along steadily. Gerard now spent many nights at Adrienne's house. One day he mustered out the courage to ask her about maybe getting married. Adrienne was happy to discuss marriage. As long as she could have a big wedding she agreed to marry him. Gerard was happy and promised that he would go and find her the biggest diamond he could afford. Adrienne snuggled up next to him and said, "I need you not a big diamond. I love you Gerard. Everyday I feel lucky to have found you." Gerard smiled and couldnt help but feel like he was floating on air.

The next morning Gerard got up early to make breakfast. He looked at Adrienne's sweet face and smiled. He still could not believe that he found the woman of his dreams. He came back ready to wake her up , eat breakfast and go ring shopping. "Hey sleepy head wake up. Adrienne...." He stood there and repeated Adrienne's name several times before he felt a knot in his stomach telling him something was wrong.

Being a doctor Gerard quickly started to access his patient but upon touching her arm he felt nothing but cold. He feared the worst...and he didnt want to accept it... he looked for a pulse and confirmed that indeed Adriennne was dead.

Gerard called Adam, Adriennes twin and informed him of her passing. In the meanwhile the body had been taken to the hospital so that they could officially pronounce her dead.

"What in the world happened?" asked Adam.

Throughout his tears, Gerard explained how they had a lovely evening and had even discussed the possiblity of marriage. Adam couldnt help but feel worse for Gerard. When Adam looked at Gerard he saw sadness...disappoinment but most of all he saw a man that had lost his true love. No matter how things happened he knew that he had to call the family and inform them of this tragedy.

Simon could not believe what he heard. Could it be true that his sister..his baby sister Adrienne was indeed gone? He would have to tell the whole family. They were all distraught to hear that Adrienne was gone so fast and way too soon. During the whole funeral Gerard was so quiet and he felt as though he couldnt live on.

Rest in Peace Adrienne Barillas.
**Authors note:
This death was thanks to ROS. I never thought that she would be affected by this. I am beginning to use ROS to give my game some randomness. I contemplated not playing the death that was dealt on the roll but I would not have kept true to the ROS. I am sad to see Adrienne go because I thought that she would marry Gerard and have plenty of children. I always roll their future when they they teens. The future for Adrienne was the following: She would marry as an adult and have only one planned pregnancy. Who knows maybe her and Gerard would not have married...but I guess we will never know.
