Adam had been busy in the restaraunt and had lost track of time. When he got home he was ready to go in and go to sleep. When he arrived at his house he was shocked to see Kaylynn standing there. He thought that she had come back to visit their neighbors. He had not seen her in over two years and did not hope that she would start a lengthy conversation. He was wrong because as soon as she saw him she ran over.
"I thought you would never get here."
"Hi Kaylynn. What a surprise. I thought you moved and never thought about visiting us poor folk in Viramontes."
"Of course I thought about everyone here. I especially thought about you."
Adam didnt believe none of it. After he spent months looking at his phone and email religiously he knew that she would call him.
"Oh really well how can I help you? tell me whats up"
"You see Adam. I actually got transferred back to Viramontes and well I was hoping to bribe the person who rented my apartment with this cake. I really loved my apartment here and I thought it would be just super to be able to move back in."
" I see. Here I thought that you were just bringing that cake for little ol me." Adam sarcasticallyh replied.
"Oh, well you can have a piece once your hopefully soon to be ex neighbor gets a bite."
"I cant wait. Listen I have to go in and rest. I have been working all day and Im quite tired. Good luck on your mission."
"thanks. Maybe we can go out to dinner and maybe catch up?"
"Sure. Just call me. you have my number"
Adam didnt even give her a chance to say she didnt have his number. He walked off and ran up his stairs to the comfort of his home. "that was easier than I thought it would be" he thought to himself.
Adam kept his nights off busy by dating. He dated Anna Leive for a while but all she wanted was sex and lots of it. Adam didnt mind but he was getting tired of being caught in the phone booth. If he even mentioned any other activity she would flee from his side. He finally came to grasp that he was just her booty call as she was his. Funny how things have changed. Before Adam was shy but now he didnt mind having casual sex with girls especially Anna. When he finally got tired of her he gave her a break. He hated that she would become clingy and called him at all times of the day. She would leave suggestive messages on his machine but when he was not in the mood he would just press delete.
On a brighter side, he did managed to keep contact with his friends and family via email. It was hard for him to see them often due to his time schedule. His last vacation was well over two years ago and that was with Kaylynn whom he now despised. He was happy to hear that his new neighbor had turned Kaylynn down. It had also been two years since his twin sister Adrienne passed away. Gerard, Adrienne fiancee, was busy running the hospital that his mother had ran for many years. He was happy to see that Gerard was happy. As Adam opened his email a smile came upon his face when he saw an email from his epal turned friend named Cara Nanale. They met on his vacation holiday to Twikki Island. She was a beautiful island girl that caught his eye but he was with Kaylynn so he didnt pursue it. They had written to each other and even exchanged pictures.
To his surprise she had written him requesting a day to see him. It turns out she was travelling to Viramontes to promote travel to Twikki Island. He was nervous but happy to see Cara again.
When Cara saw Adam she was so excited. She had almost forgotten how gorgeous he looked. No matter what she had to keep focused on her job here in Viramontes. She was going to be here for a little over two weeks but her job was tourism to her island and not dating Adam. Adam too felt a little warm inside when he hugged Cara. He didnt expect her to be as beautiful if not more than when he saw her picture.
They caught up on old times and the new. Cara loved Viramontes city and was happy to see that Adam was doing well. She imagined that he was due for a vacation so she managed to slip him a brochure. Unfortunately Cara was unable to see Adam due to both of their schedules being full with work related activies. Cara did managed to leave Adam a voicemail hoping to come back again and maybe spend more time with him.
Marcos, Adam's older brother stopped by to see how his brother was doing. It was hard for Marcos to come out since he was now suddenly a single father. Adam still remembered when he heard that Linda left Marcos to join a band on tour. No matter what Marcos said Adam knew that he was still in love with Linda. Linda was his true love but Marcos would not touch that subject with a ten foot pole. Instead Adam mentioned how Cara came to visit and how he thought that there might be something there. Instead of receiving support from Marcos he instead got Marcos negative comments about the whole thing.
"Trust me Adam. Long distance relationships never work. Its bad enough having a relationship with some one here. Give yourself a chance. Im sure you will meet someone that doesnt live so far away."
Adam just hoped that his brother's bitterness would one day leave him.
Adam followed Marcos advice somewhat. He stopped seeing Anna Leive all together. Adam wanted a serious relationship and he was not going to get it through booty calls. He therefore met and began dating Viola Parker. Viola was an executive at a marketing firm that the restaraunt hired for advertisement purposes. Viola caught his eye but sooner rather than later he lost interest. She was never available and when she was she would excuse herself a million times saying, "Im sorry I have to take this call". Adam got fed up and left Viola at the club. He figured she could call a cab on her cellphone.
Adam came home one night and began emailing his sister Amarilis when a chat window from Cara popped up. They began chatting and finally Adam worked up the nerve to ask her to come for a visit. He would pay for everything but she didnt want to hear a word of it. She too had missed Adam and wanted to see him. They arranged a date for Adam to pick her up at the airport. Adam was more than excited to see Cara. He wanted to explore these feelings he had for her.
This time when he saw Cara he was more nervous than usual. Cara herself felt nervous as well. They both knew they had chemistry together but they never acted on it. Before Cara knew it she was staring at his green eyes and being hypnotized by them.
One thing lead to another and they were soon in his room making out. Cara loved feeling like a woman in Adam's arms. They both declared how they liked each other and how they both were attracted to one another. In between hugs and kisses they declared their love for each other. One didnt want to declare something before the other. They fell onto the bed and let their love flow from within them out. Adam made the most tender love to Cara and she felt as though she was walking on air.
After a couple of weeks Cara knew and dreaded that it was her time to go back home. Adam and her had lived such a wonderful two weeks. The past two weeks were full of love, happiness, sex and joy. No matter how much she tried to convince herself it was just a fling she couldnt. She was not the type of girl to give herself to anyone. Now that she was no longer a virgin she would have to stop wearing her native Wreath and begin wearing the bindi. The bindi showed she was now a woman. Cara always imagined she would wear her bindi with her husband next to her but it would not be so. Sure she could lie to her village but that would only be lying to herself. She looked at the mirror and was amazed to see a grown woman staring back at her.
Cara stepped out to wait for the cab that Adam had called to take her to the airport. It had been a while and she was amazed he had not called up to her. When she stepped on the front stoop she asked Adam where the cab was.
"There isnt going to be a cab."
"what? why not? Did you borrow a car?"
"No. I just want to ask you to stay with me. We will get married. I dont want to lose you or this. Cara what do you feel?"
Cara thought of a billion reasons not to do this. After all she had only lived with Adam for two weeks. But werent these two weeks pure bliss? She weighed the pros and cons and she finally said, "I have to go back home."
"You do? I mean Cara we can have so much more for us. I dont want to lose you."
"I have to go back home to ask to be transferred here. They offered me the position at our local embassy. I told them that I would give them the response when I returned."
"You little.. you had me scared that you were leaving me forever. Your not going home alone because Im going with you."
And with that Adam reserved his plane ticket to Twikki Island to gain the happiness that he so deserved.
